How to make Ginger Ninja Turmeric Chai!
They way you tasted it at our event!
If you’ve sampled our Ginger Ninja Turmeric Chai at one of our events and wondered how we made it, this guide is for you.
You’ll find the brewing instructions on the back of your packaging, but here we’re sharing exactly how we make our event samples, including the milk and sweetener we use. Then you can make it your own.
What you’ll need
- ¾ teaspoon of Ginger Ninja Organic Turmeric Chai, (that's the little spoon)
- Hot water, enough to fill about 40% of your favourite mug
- Warm oat milk, enough to fill the remaining 60% (or any milk you prefer)
- A dash of 100% maple syrup, to taste (or your sweetener of choice)
Step 1 - Start with your Chai spices
Add ¾ teaspoon of Ginger Ninja Turmeric Chai to your favourite mug.
You don't need much as it is pure organic spices with no additional fillers, sweeteners or milk so start with less and build up to more if you need to.
Step 2 - Add hot water and stir
Fill about 40% of your mug with hot water. That’s a little less than half.
Stir well to bloom the spices before adding your milk. This gives the spices a chance to release their flavour and helps them disperse through your drink.
Ground spices won’t completely dissolve, so a little sediment will settle naturally at the bottom of your cup. The sediment will continue to release the flavours in your cup (you don't have to drink the sediment but you can if you want to)
Step 3 - Choose your milk
We use oat milk
for our event samples, but you can use whichever milk you enjoy.
Oat, soy and full cream dairy milk generally give a fuller, creamier cup.
Almond, skim and light milk often make a lighter drink.
The result will vary with the milk you choose, so have a play and see what you like.
Step 4 - Warm your milk
We recommend warming your milk for that cosy, creamy finish.
Use a milk frother that heats, warm it gently on the stove, or pop it in the microwave. You don’t need fancy equipment.
Step 5 - Fill the rest of your mug
Top up with warm milk, filling the remaining 60% of your mug, and stir again.
Our starting ratio is simple: 40% hot water and 60% warm milk. Hot water first, milk
second.
Step 6 - Sweeten it your way
We add a dash of 100% maple syrup to our event samples.
You can use maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar or your preferred sweetener. Or leave it unsweetened. We only use a dash - so taste it before you sweeten it.
Prefer it iced?
Mix ¾ teaspoon of Ginger Ninja Turmeric Chai with a small amount of hot water and stir well to bloom the spices. Just like your hot chai, the ground spices won’t completely dissolve.
Pour over a glass filled with ice, then top up with cold milk and a dash of your favourite sweetener.
Stir and enjoy!
You've made your perfect cup
Now you know how we make the chai you tasted at our events, you can play with the ratio.
Try a little more milk or water, adjust the amount of chai, or change the sweetness. This is your daily ritual, so make it the way you love it.
It’s time to put the kettle on and make your perfect cup.
